Sick of Tangled Up Christmas Lights for your Tree?

iStock_000004089923XSmall.JPG

If you are looking for Christmas lights for your tree but are sick and tired of the tangled mess associated with them, you may want to consider a pre-lit Christmas tree. These trees are wonderful and so easy, all you do is open the box, assemble a few pieces, and plug it in. It is then all ready to decorate. The artificial varities that are made today are so much more life-like than those from the past. The lights are evenly dispersed and ready to go.

Outdoor Christmas lights are so festive and fun. This picture of a house all decked out with big decorative snowmen, lolly pops, and candy canes would make one think about candy cane lane. The lights are glowing and reflecting in the rain swept street. Icicle lights decorate the roof-line of the house while the yard is completely full of decorations.

Christmas Lights for Wreaths

This holiday season, think about adding lights to your Christmas wreaths. Wreaths can be made out of all sorts of things not just the traditional round ring. Use your imagination and create something unique. Add a strand of battery operated lights to your wreath to illuminate it at night. Battery operated lights are great as you don't have to worry about finding a plug in. Boughs of greenery can be added to an old sled and adorned with a bow to be set up against something on your porch. An old fishing net can be filled with pinecones, pineapple (sign of welcome), greens, and a bow. Attach the net (open side against the door) to the door for an unusual Christmas wreath. Use a hot glue gun to attach pomegranates to the wreath. You can also spray some flocking to the greens for something a little different.

Tabletop Trees with Lights

Everybody thinks of the traditional Christmas tree that is placed in the living room or family room and usually the biggest tree that will fit into the given space is sought after. Chevy Chases movie "Christmas Vacation" comes to mind when we remember the trip to get the biggest tree that will almost fit on top of the car is cut and brought home. But what about small little tabletop trees to show up in all the unexpected spaces of your home. The little miniature trees lend magic to the holidays. You can find small vintage Christmas trees at garage sales, thrift stores, estate sales, and craft stores. Perch a tree on a shelf in the kitchen, place several on the mantel, tuck one in a corner of the bookshelf, place one on a table in the entry of your home, and place a few on a table in the bedroom. Adding miniature trees to many corners of your home will add a bit of Christmas to every room. Small artificial trees are available already prelit with Christmas lights. You just pop them out of the box and they are all ready to plug in and display. You can also add your own lights to any small tree for a little extra glow to give your home that Christmas warmth that travels through every room. Have fun decorating.

Christmas Treat for the Wildlife

Don't forget about the birds and animals while you hang your Christmas light this season. They would love to be remembered with a Christmas treat. There is an old Scandinavian custom that honors the animals that were present at the Nativity. This custom provides goodies for the animals during the cold winter months.

So while you are hanging those Christmas lights this year, invite the neighorhood children over to help make arrangements of apples, grains, and seeds. Place them aroung the yard and watch the animals come and enjoy.

Christmas Decorating Idea using Apples and red lights

Apples can make a great traditional table decoration for Christmas or Thanksgiving. It is simple yet charming.

  1. Use either real red apples or artificial apples.

  2. Acrylic paint thinned to a creamy texture.

  3. You will need a small paint brush.

Paint designs onto the apples making desired shapes. You can use dots and scallops in a traditional Scandinavian theme as was used on traditional Scandinavian furniture. Paint shapes of stars, hearts, angels, trees, horses, santas, or Thanksgiving turkeys or pilgrams. Arrange the apples in a basket, bowl, or antique wooden trough. Use pinecones and sprigs of holy around your basket. You can use a string of red Christmas lights to embellish your arrangement if you wish.

Now you have a nice welcoming centerpiece for your guests.
